The standard we hold ourselves to
Both the app and this website aim at WCAG 2.1 Level AA. Every colour pair in the design tokens is measured against that threshold rather than eyeballed, and the measurement is re-run automatically whenever a colour changes.
What that means in practice
- Colour is never the only carrier of meaning. Auspicious and inauspicious days, the today marker, the selected day and permission states all have a text or shape cue as well.
- Text scales with the system setting, up to the largest accessibility sizes.
- Tap targets are at least 44 points.
- Every control has a screen-reader label; the day grid announces the lunar date and whether the day is today or selected.
- Pages can be read and navigated with JavaScript disabled. Scripts are used only for the cookie banner, the Cookie Settings page, and sending the root address to your browser’s language (with JavaScript off it lists the language links instead). With JavaScript off the banner does not appear and nothing is stored, but the Cookie Settings page cannot save or show your choice.
Known limitations
- In the English interface, the day view does not list spirit names; on the full spirit sheet (full version) some values, such as the yellow/black path god, still appear in Chinese, and the day officer carries an editorial English name. Most spirit names have no established English rendering.
- The almanac terminology is old, and plain-language explanations are editorial renderings rather than authoritative definitions.
- The first release ships for iPhone only; iPad and Mac layouts are not optimised.
Telling us about a barrier
Write to [email protected]. We reply within five working days. If something in the app is unusable with VoiceOver or at large text sizes, that is a bug, not a limitation, and we want to hear about it.
